There are hotels you can stay at in Japan with Pokémon Rooms at MIMARU, a chain of apartment-style hotels. I haven’t stayed there myself, an honestly, I have never even seen them advertised on tv in Japan.
As of July 2025, there are Pokémon Rooms in 10 different MIMARU hotels across Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. The Mimaru website lists it as a renewal so if you have heard about these rooms in the past, they should be completely redone by now.
MIMARU is a hotel brand that focuses on larger rooms designed for groups or families. Instead of the usual compact business hotel setup you often find in Japanese cities, their rooms have space for four to six people, plus a small kitchen with cooking equipment and tableware. They tend to cater to travelers who want to stay together in one room rather than booking multiple separate ones.
The Pokémon Room takes that base setup and adds Pokémon decor. The walls, ceilings, and even the kitchen are decorated with more than 100 Pokémon, ranging from well-known characters like Pikachu and Snorlax to less obvious choices. The overall look is bright and playful without being completely overwhelming. The most eye-catching part is probably the oversized Snorlax plush sitting on the bed — from the photos I’ve seen, it’s big enough to lean on while watching TV or reading.
Many of the rooms have a kitchen and dining area, as they are supposed to be similar to apartments. Since this Japan Pokémon hotel room is a little expensive, but has kitchen and dining facilities, families can save a little money there by cooking some food from the local supermarket. The theme keeps going there as well, with mugs, plates, and other items featuring Poké Ball designs. There’s also a QR code in the room that links to Pokémon-themed recipes.
People around the world have grown up playin Pokémon games, so it could be a really nice place to stay with family. In addition to the nostalgia involved, it could just be a way for people to treat themselves to a unique experience for a night. Below is the official website for the hotel which shows some pictures from the room including the plates, the Snorlax stuffed doll, the beds, and more information. https://mimaruhotels.com/ja/news/stay-pokemonroom/
I clicked on the reservation page for the Pokémon room at the Mimaru in Namba in Osaka and the price I was quoted for 2 adults and 2 children was a little over 57,000 yen per night. That is pretty expensive for a hotel room, but that’s the price as shown from the hotel directly. There may be deals available through other sites.
